Hello, my name is Matthew Carter, owner of A. C. & A. in Lagrange Ky which also services Louisville. Today’s topic centers around employer plans, turning 65 and making informed decisions about Medicare. If you plan on continuing to work after age 65 and have an employer health insurance plan, you have a few to-do items on the check list. First, you must determine if your drug plan is considered creditable by Medicare. To do this you can review your health plan to find out if you have drug coverage. Once prescription drug coverage is established, the drug plan deductible must not exceed the maximum annual amount allowed by Medicare of $505.00 for all tiers of prescriptions. If neither of these conditions are met, the employee must switch to a creditable employer plan or enroll in Medicare Part B along with a prescription drug plan. Please contact your Human Resources department for further consultation. For more information Google Medicare supplement Lagrange, Kentucky.
