Hello, my name is Matthew Carter, owner of Aines, Carter & Associates in LaGrange, KY. which also provides service to the Louisville community. Aines, Carter & Associates specializes in Medicare planning. Today, we are going to discuss the Initial Enrollment Period which occurs 3 months before the Medicare recipient’s 65th birthday, their birthday month, and extends 3 months after their birth month. The Initial Enrollment Period typically occurs at age 65 or when the recipient decides to enroll in Medicare Part B. It is important to note that if the Medicare recipient utilizes the 7th month for enrollment, Medicare Part B, Part C, and Part D effective dates will be delayed an additional 3 months. Choosing any other enrollment month will allow the recipient to start effective dates on the 1st of their 65th birthday month or the 1st for any of the following two months.
